The synopsis
William F. Vallicella is an American philosopher who obtained his Ph.D. from Boston College in 1978. He subsequently held academic positions, including a tenured Associate Professor of Philosophy role at the University of Dayton from 1978 to 1991, and a Visiting Associate Professor of Philosophy position at Case Western Reserve University from 1989 to 1991. After his tenure, he retired to Gold Canyon, Arizona, from where he continues to contribute to philosophical discourse, largely through online platforms. Vallicella's scholarly contributions are mainly in the fields of metaphysics and the philosophy of religion. He has authored numerous articles and a significant book, "A Paradigm Theory of Existence: Onto-Theology Vindicated" (2002). His work delves into profound questions concerning the nature of existence, the reasons for contingent beings, and the vindication of onto-theology, critically engaging with and challenging various deflationary and eliminativist accounts of existence presented by prominent philosophers. He is known for his explorations of ontological arguments, the problem of being, and classical theism.
