The synopsis

Ruth Abbey (born 1961) is an Australian political theorist whose interests include contemporary political theory, the history of political thought, the history of philosophy, and feminist political thought. She previously held the position of John Cardinal O'Hara, C.S.C. Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. Abbey's work on feminist liberalism examines contemporary feminists who remain within the liberal tradition, analyzing their arguments for the compatibility of feminism and liberalism, and addressing criticisms. Her research on Friedrich Nietzsche focuses on his middle period works, exploring themes of morality, friendship, gender, marriage, egoism, pity, and politics. She also manages an online resource for the works of Charles Taylor. Abbey has authored several books, including "Nietzsche's Middle Period," "Charles Taylor," "The Return of Feminist Liberalism," and "Feminist Interpretations of John Rawls." She has also published numerous articles in academic journals on topics such as political theory, liberalism, feminism, and Nietzsche. Abbey has received the Leverhulme Research Fellowship and was a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Ethics and Public Affairs at The Murphy Institute.
