The synopsis
Peter Richard Haddow Forrest is an Australian philosopher, born in Liverpool, England in 1948. He was educated at Ampleforth College, Balliol College, Oxford (mathematics), and Harvard University (PhD in mathematics). After moving to Australia, he earned a Master of Arts in philosophy from the University of Tasmania and a PhD from the University of Sydney, where he was influenced by David Stove and David Armstrong. Forrest served as Professor of Philosophy at the University of New England from 1987 to 2010 and was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities in 1990. His work in the philosophy of religion defends a view of God that is beyond the world, possesses creative powers, and develops from pure power to pure love. In the philosophy of time, he supports the growing block theory, asserting that the present and past are real, but the future is not. He is married with four children.
