The synopsis

Mamai Dev, also known as Mamai Pandit and Guru Mam, was a religious teacher and guru of the Maheshwari Meghawal Samaj and Raajguru of the Jadeja Dynasty. Born in India in the 11th-12th century, he is revered as an incarnation of Lord Brahma. His religious identity is described in the Baarmati religion of the Maheshwari Samaj as "Pandh Mamai, Jeev Varma Jo Karam Ameyarakh," signifying his body as Mamai and his soul as Brahma. He spread his teachings to the Meghwar community in Saurashtra, Kutch, Gujarat, and Sindh (present-day Pakistan), as well as to the poor Sinbhariya Meghwar, advocating for Dharma. He is credited with formulating the ancient Barmati Panth. His tomb is located in the Thatta District in the Sindh province of Pakistan. Mamai Dev lived during the reigns of the Jadeja Samma rulers of Kutch and the Samma rulers of Thatta. He composed numerous Gitanans in Sindhi, Kutch, and Halari languages, known as Mamai Dev jo Ginan. He died in Thatta, where a shrine, Mamai Dev Astan, was built in his honor, attracting annual pilgrimages. He is recognized as the first and earliest writer of Kutchi literature and the fourth Guru of the Barmati Panth. He is also considered the first scholar of Matang Dev and the Barmati Panth, as his works provide significant insights into them.
