The synopsis
John Levy (28 April 1910 – 28 December 1976) was a British mystic, artist, and musician. He is best known for translating the works of his guru, Sri Atmananda Krishna Menon, specifically 'Atma Darshan' and 'Atma Niviriti' into English. Born into a wealthy aristocratic family, Levy was an expert in Asian folk music, with a particular focus on Indian traditions. At one point in his life, he famously gave up his entire fortune and moved to India, choosing to live with only a loincloth. During his time in India, Levy became a student of V. K. Krishna Menon. He passed away in London in 1976. Following his death, his extensive collection was bequeathed to the University of Edinburgh, where it now resides as the John Levy Archive, preserving his contributions and legacy.
