The synopsis

Ibn Taymiyya was a Sunni Muslim scholar, jurist, theologian, traditionist, Sufi, proto-Salafi, and iconoclast. Born in Harran in 1263 CE, he fled the Mongol invasion and settled in Damascus, where he was taught by his grandfather and father. Ibn Taymiyya was a prolific writer and influential figure, though controversial among his contemporaries. His theological doctrines, particularly his views on divine attributes and his strong opposition to certain Sufi practices and philosophical influences, led to his imprisonment on several occasions. He is considered a significant influence on modern Salafi and Jihadist movements, although interpretations of his work vary. He died in prison in Damascus in 1328.
