The synopsis

Giulio Giorello (14 May 1945 – 15 June 2020) was an Italian philosopher, mathematician, and epistemologist. He graduated with degrees in philosophy (1968) and mathematics (1971) from the University of Milan, studying under Ludovico Geymonat. Giorello taught at several universities, including the University of Pavia, University of Catania, University of Insubria, and the University of Milan, where he held the position of professor of philosophy of science. He also served as President of SILFS (Italian Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science). Giorello was actively involved in cultural discourse, directing the 'Scienza e idee' series and contributing to the newspaper Corriere della Sera. His philosophical stances evolved, initially expressing atheistic views in 'Senza Dio. Del buon uso dell'ateismo' (2010) and later adopting an agnostic perspective. He was a speaker at significant events, including the national congress of the Grand Orient of Italy in 2012, and received the Frascati Philosophy National Award in the same year. In his personal life, Giorello was a notable figure in the world of comic books, writing essays and prefaces on characters like Tex Willer and Topolino, and co-creating 'The philosophy of Donald Duck'. He died in Milan on June 15, 2020, due to COVID-19, just three days after marrying his partner, Roberta Pelachin.
