Cynthia M. Grund

Cynthia M. Grund (born 19 January 1956) is an American philosopher and educator. She is currently an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern Denmark, where she also serves as Research Director for "The Aesthetics of Music and Sound" project. Grund earned her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College and her Ph.D. from the University of Tampere in 1997, with a thesis focused on the logic of interpretation in metaphor and music. She joined the University of Southern Denmark in 1997. Grund has also been involved in educational projects, including a web-based initiative in Second Life to reconstruct historical locations. With a background in music, she founded and edits the "Journal of Music and Meaning" and has performed as a piano accompanist. She is actively involved in philosophical associations and research networks related to music and meaning.
