The synopsis

Antonio Rocco (1586–1653) was an Italian priest, philosopher, and writer. He graduated under Cesare Cremonini. He is best known for his satirical dialogue, L'Alcibiade, fanciullo a scola, written in 1630 and published in 1652. The work was immediately suppressed and largely destroyed, with only ten copies surviving attempts to destroy the entire print run. Its survival led to its translation and publication in Italian in 1862, which again elicited condemnation and destruction. He taught philosophy and wrote various works on Aristotelian philosophy.
